Network Design Case Study

  • Snack Brands Australia is a 100% Australian made and owned snack food company. SBA produces Australia’s favourite snacks and potato chips including CC’s, Cheezels, Chickadees, French Fries, Jumpy’s, Kettle, Natural Chip Company, Samboy and Thins chips
  • The objective of the Snackbrands project was to optimise & standardise their product packaging and pallet configurations. This change allowed for increased automation, standardisation of the line-haul transport fleet, reduction of packaging procurement costs and a more efficient use of transport & storage assets.

  • Implement standard pallet dimensions with a maximum height of 1.5 meter across the end to end supply chain for the total product range
  • Introduce standard shelf ready packaging in line with retailer requirements
  • Improved storage and transport utilization
  • Execute national transport tender based on new product requirements and ability to double stack products over the full length of the vehicle
  • Optimise DC design and flow

  • SCC led the project with a cross functional client team including marketing, manufacturing, logistics, sales, procurement
  • SCC reported into the board meeting of the client
  • Very close client engagement meant a smooth transition into the Australian retailers
  • Last part of the programme was to run a national transport tender for a high cube transport network
